City council takes part in annual ride

The Sanibel Bicycle Club held its annual Ride of Silence on May 15 on Sanibel. Sponsored by Billy’s Bikes, the route followed the city’s Shared Use Path. Sanibel Vice Mayor Mike Miller and City Councilmembers John Henshaw and Holly Smith took part this year. On the third Wednesday in May at 7 p.m., hundreds of events take place worldwide to commemorate cyclists who have been injured or killed while riding a bike, as well as to raise awareness about the importance of sharing the road.
