The Captiva Erosion Prevention District’s commission was updated on the post-hurricane beach nourishment and Bayside Adaptation projects during its recent meeting, among other items.

On April 8, APTIM Coastal Market Lead Nicole Sharp reported that the bid documents for the renourishment project are seeing a lot of interest and they have received requests for information.

“So it seems like all the players that are out there that we want to bid are looking,” she said.

Sharp and staff added that bids for the project will open later in April.

As for the Bayside Adaptation project, she reported that APTIM recently held the kick off meeting and convened the Steering Committee. A website is also being created to interact with the community.

Also at the meeting, Executive Director Daniel Munt explained that the CEPD is required to till the beach as part of its permit for conducting the beach projects. Staff is currently coordinating the clean up of debris and vegetation, which will be followed by tilling. The tilling is estimated to take two days.
