SPD releases weekly blotter

As Sanibel continues to recover from Hurricane Ian, the Sanibel Police Department is committed to keeping the community safe and secure. To support that effort, a weekly police blotter will be issued on Tuesday that will include real time information about law enforcement response to criminal activity.
ARRESTS
– Eleazar Ezequias Gabriel, 29, of 5617 8th Ave., Fort Myers, was charged on Jan. 4 with one count each of drive while license suspended habitual offender and probation violation.
– Tyrone Emanuel Hopkins, 39, of 1430 Gardenia Ave., Fort Myers, was charged on Jan. 4 with one count each of marijuana possession not more than 20 grams, possession of weapon or ammo by convicted Florida felon and larceny grand theft of firearm previous convicted grand theft of firearm.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
The city of Sanibel’s 2021 and 2022 Hurricane Re-entry Passes are still valid. If you have one, you do not need to re-apply for a new pass.
Information on the Sanibel Boat Ramp:
– The boat ramp is open to permit holders on weekdays, weekends and holidays.
– The boat ramp is open to the public (non-permit holders) on weekdays that are not holidays for a $40 daily fee.
– Commercial use of the boat ramp is prohibited.
– Fines for violations at the boat ramp are $250.
Roadside parking on Sanibel is not allowed except in the case of special events requiring a permit. It is enforced and can result in a $150 fine.
