DDWS to host free estate planning seminar
Representatives from local legal, tax accounting and financial advisory firms will team up with the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge for a free Estate Planning 101 panel presentation on Jan. 30 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge’s Visitor & Education Center on Sanibel.
Doors will open at 8:30 a.m., with a free continental breakfast provided by the DDWS.
The speakers will include: wills, trusts and estate planning attorney Janet Strickland; Trevor Swartz and Jack Thomas, managing directors and partners at HighTower Advisors/Thomas and Swartz Wealth Management; and Brad Shipley, certified public accountant with Wiltshire, Whitley, Richardson, and English. They will present information about the importance of estate planning and how to get started with the process. Afterward, attendees will have time to meet individually with the speakers to ask questions.
“We see this free ‘class’ as providing a valuable public service and giving attendees insights, guidance and tools to help them plan their estate or develop questions for their own advisors and family members,” DDWS Executive Director Ann-Marie Wildman said. “It provides a means to take that first step for those who haven’t already done so and may feel overwhelmed with the process.
Attendance is free and open to the public, but limited on a first-come basis.
