F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva is continuing its community-wide Friendly Faces Luncheon. The next one will be held on Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. at the Sanibel Recreation Center, with a virtual option available.

It will feature Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum Executive Director Sam Ankerson. For his program, “The Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum: What’s Now, What’s Next,” he will discuss the state of the museum, including educational programs and outreach, rebuilding since Hurricane Ian, a new vision for The Great Hall of Shells permanent exhibit and other plans for a post-Ian future.

Ankerson joined the museum as executive director in 2021. Prior to that, he was deputy director of the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach. Ankerson and his wife, who is executive director of the Captiva Civic Association, have two grown daughters and live on Sanibel with two cats and two dogs.

“Reconnecting and making new friends through our monthly luncheons has been a delight, this year in particular, since Ian,” F.I.S.H. Senior Services Director Erika Broyles said. “We always have a few games and giveaways and, of course, a great meal from the Sanibel Deli.”

Prepared by the Sanibel Deli, the lunch will be complimentary for those who attend in-person.

Reservations and meal choices are required by Dec. 8.

For more information or to make a reservation, contact Broyles at 239-472-4775. Once registered, Zoom instructions will be provided to those planning to attend virtually.

The Sanibel Recreation Center is at 3880 Sanibel-Captiva Road, Sanibel.
