FDOT provides storm update on causeway
The Florida Department of Transportation reported that due to potential storm surge from Hurricane Idalia, water may cover portions of the Sanibel Causeway later today, Aug. 29, and overnight into Aug. 30. Motorists are urged not to drive through flooded roadways. If damage occurs to the causeway due to the storm, crews and materials are staged onsite to make repairs quickly and maintain critical access. The FDOT will provide updates as needed.
