Rotary announces scholarship winners
The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club recently announced this year’s scholarship recipients.
The recipient of the Bill Rahe Memorial Scholarship is Jackson McKee, of Fort Myers High School. He will be attending the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and plans to major in business. Malley Menna, of Cape Coral High School, also was chosen for a scholarship. She plans to attend the University of Central Florida and major in biology.
The club chose from 25 qualified applicants from various Lee County high schools. The recipients were chosen primarily based on need and academic achievement. Other factors taken into consideration were volunteer/service hours, extracurricular activities, employment or internships, Rotary/Interact involvement and their relationship with Sanibel-Captiva.
The club has seven different scholarships totaling over $20,700. They are given for four years, providing the recipients maintain a 3.0 GPA.
