Refuge, DDWS celebrate chamber ribbon-cutting

REFUGE/DDWS
On June 6, four “Ding” representatives — J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge Supervisory Refuge Ranger Toni Westland, volunteer Robin Kirk, “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge Events and Communications Coordinator April Boehnen and DDWS Community Outreach and Marketing Manager Gretchen Engelbrecht — rode bicycles to the SanCap Chamber on Causeway Road to celebrate the reopening of the Francis P. Bailey Jr. Visitor Center on Sanibel. The team cheered on its partner’s hurricane recovery milestone, just as the chamber had celebrated with the refuge at its reopening in April. After the ribbon-cutting, they toured the remastered center, where a refuge video screen that Engelbrecht helped design stole the show.
