The Lee County Mosquito Control District reported that it recognizes the challenges Sanibel property owners have faced following Hurricane Ian. Staff biologists and field inspectors continue to survey neighborhoods and surrounding habitats for mosquito activity and are providing treatments as needed. The district reported that stagnant water in unused swimming pools provides habitat for a number of pest mosquitoes that can create a public health risk. Those who have an untreated swimming pool and would like staff to check it for mosquito larvae can fill out a service request at http://LCMCD.org or call 239-694-2174.
