Trailways Camps taking registrations
Trailways Camps provide residential camping experiences for adults with special needs and respite for their families and caregivers. Full sessions are planned for Oct. 17-20, Nov. 14-17 and Feb. 20-23, with a grand “I AM SPECIAL” Camper Reunion event on April 1 on Sanibel. Activities will include fishing, swimming, hiking, archery, canoeing, arts and crafts, visits from support animals, horseback riding, talent shows and more. Volunteers can use the online registration system to sign up; opportunities will be available on Sanibel. Trailways Camps was established in Southwest Florida by the founders in honor of their sons with rare disease and special needs; Robert passed in 2005, and Benjamin passed in 2020. Thirty full camp sessions, serving hundreds of adults with special needs, have been provided since 2012.
