Recently, a black-necked swan at Periwinkle Park on Sanibel lost her nest of eggs as none were viable. A white swan had laid a nest of eggs and died shortly after. Jay Wolf, the park’s maintenance man, put the eggs from the recently deceased swan into the nest for the black-necked swan. A few weeks later, a baby swan — called a cygnet — hatched. A small miracle, but a miracle none the less. Thanks to Wolf and Periwinkle Park for being such good stewards of all living creatures.
