Florida Lions Eye Clinic to offer free eye care for youths

By FL LIONS EYE CLINIC 1 min read

The Florida Lions Eye Clinic is again offering its Summer Children’s Eye Clinic on the first Wednesday of each month, from May through August, at its Bonita Springs location.

The next clinic will be held on June 1.

It will offer free eye care to low-income Florida residents with no medical insurance. Pediatric ophthalmologist Dr. Shauna Berry will perform examinations on the children scheduled.

Experts say one in four of school-aged children have undetected vision problems. If left untreated, some of the problems can cause permanent vision loss. Children learn best, when they can see clearly and are fully engaged in class. With poor eyesight, children’s academic performance is hindered, and childhood disorders may continue to affect health and well-being throughout their adult years.
