Island Seniors Calendar
Island Seniors at the Sanibel Recreation Center, at 3380 Sanibel-Captiva Road, Sanibel, will present the following:
HOT DOG LUNCH
Hot dog lunch on April 20 from 11 a.m. to noon. Cost is $3; chips and drink included.
SUNSET SOCIAL APPETIZER POTLUCK
A Sunset Social Appetizer Potluck will be held on April 21 at 6:30 p.m. on the north/west side of Island B — closest to Sanibel — on the Sanibel Causeway; look for the table banner. Bring an appetizer to share and favorite chair; drinks and dessert will be provided. To register, contact Dave or Jessica at the center.
EARTH DAY PRESENTATION
The city of Sanibel’s Natural Resources Department will provide an Earth Day Presentation on April 22 at 10 a.m. Staff will discuss the importance of the Wildlife Trail Cam system and tracking, monitoring and understanding local wildlife population throughout the inland areas of Sanibel. Refreshments will be served. To sign up, contact Dave or Jessica at the center.
KAYAKING
Kayaking will be held on April 26 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Basic skill level required, including the ability to independently board and exiting the kayak, as well as the strength and endurance necessary to keep up during the excursion. Cost is $5 for members and $20 for non-members. Sign up in-person at the center. Restrictions apply; call for details.
CINCO DE MAYO TACO FIESTA
A Cinco de Mayo Taco Fiesta luncheon on May 5 at 11 a.m. Registration required by April 26. To register, contact Dave or Jessica at the center.
THE BAKER MUSEUM
A guided tour of The Baker Museum in Naples will be held on May 6 at 10 a.m. Exhibit viewings will include: contemporary art inspired by the masters, transcendental art, and a historical Major League Baseball artifacts display from a private collection. Lunch is optional and paid on an individual basis; transportation is not included. Cost is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Registration required by April 26. Proof of full COVID vaccination is required for museum entry with matching ID.
LEISURE LUNCHERS
Leisure Lunchers will meet on May 19 at 11:30 a.m. at the Thistle Lodge Beachfront Restaurant, at 2255 W. Gulf Drive, Sanibel. Order and pay individually. Registration required by April 26. Other activities: Coffee Social on Monday through Friday from 9:30 to 11 a.m., Social Bridge on Monday and Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Mahjongg on Thursday from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and Euchre on Friday 1 p.m. Games are $3 for members and $5 for non-members; prizes awarded.
