DDWS announces People’s Choice winner
The second Project Refuge: A Couture Fashion Show Using Trash took place on March 31 at The Community House on Sanibel, with 21 upcycled designs. A gala luncheon affair celebrating the 40th anniversary of the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge, it was emceed by past “Ding” Darling Artist-in-Residence Rachel Pierce. The DDWS reported that after counting the votes from the event and those sent in through the poll in its e-newsletter, the People’s Choice Award will go to “It’s In The Bag.” It was modeled by Constance Walker, designed by Alexa Collins, and was made from plastic shopping bags. In addition, the following Junior Design Teams and Designs took part:
– “Painted Lady” by Claire Schie and Anna Hubbard. Modeled by Anna Hubbard.
– “Fashion Ova” by Kaye Borst. Modeled by Alayna Calkins.
– “Paper Bag Princess” buy Mairin O’Malley and Emma Morris. Modeled by Emma Morris.
– “Colorful Palette” but Lydia Pierce, Piper Pierce and Mary Meyer. Modeled by Lydia Pierce.
– “Mask-er-piece” by Audrina Westland and Kathy Daddato. Modeled by Audrina Westland.
