Bailey’s General Store will host a Grgich Vertical Cabernet Sauvignon Wine Tasting on April 9 at 6 p.m. at The Community House, at 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.

Featured speaker Carl Russo, director of national sales for Grgich Hills Estate, will be joined by Bailey’s wine steward Calli Johnson. They will present the 2018 Sauvignon Blanc, 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2018 Merlot and 2015 Yountville Cabernet Sauvignon.

Chef Karl Hamme, of the Sanibel Catering Company, will prepare food pairings.

Grgich Hills Estate Principal Mike Grgich first gained international recognition at the Paris Tasting of 1976. Since then, he has had a commitment to making wines of the highest quality and began producing what became their signature wines: richly complex chardonnays and cabernet sauvignons.

“I like the fact that they farm without artificial fertilizers and pesticides, relying on wild yeast fermentation,” Johnson said of the estates’ certified organic Napa Valley vineyards. “They use passion and art to hand-craft balanced and elegant wines that are food friendly.”

Tickets are $149.99 per person; space is limited to 45 attendees.
