Two exhibits are open through the month at the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village.

February is Black History Month and pictures and texts describing the black pioneer experience are on display in the Caretakers’ Cottage. The artifacts and photos reflect the family, work and social lives of members of the Gavin, Jordan, Walker and Burns families, as well as other black Sanibel islanders.

In addition, the village is highlighting the lives of a number of historical Sanibel couples in recognition of Valentine’s Day this month on Feb. 14. Look for the red frames in each building. Also on display is a collection of beautiful and humorous antique valentines.

The Sanibel Historical Museum and Village is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. In accordance with the city’s regulations, masks are required inside the buildings.

Admission is $10 for ages 18 and older; children and members are free.

Full guided tours take place at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.; reservations are not required.

For more information, call 239-472-4648 or visit www.sanibelmuseum.org.

The Sanibel Historical Museum and Village is at 950 Dunlop Road, Sanibel.
