Jill Lloyd, of North Oaks, Minnesota, found a junonia on Dec. 23 at about 2 a.m. in front of the Gulfside Place Condominiums on Sanibel. She reported that after 12 years of visiting with family and falling in love with the island and shelling, she finally found the elusive shell in the middle of the night. “Actually, I didn’t find it, I think it found me,” Lloyd said. She explained that it washed up right in front of her and landed on top of a shell pile long enough for her to discover it with the light from her cell phone.
