Zonta Club to host annual film fest virtually

The Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva will host the 4th annual Lunafest Film Festival virtually this year. The film collection will be made available for 48 hours from Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. to Nov. 11 at 7 p.m.
“Lunafest suggests that supporters invite a few close friends, pop some popcorn and watch from home in safety and comfort,” event organizer and Zontian Carol Gestwicki said. “It’s a great way to honor women filmmakers and share ideas about women’s issues.”
Founded in 2000 by entrepreneur Kit Crawford, Lunafest was created as a traveling festival with a collection of short films highlighting female filmmakers. Since 2001, more than 170 women have shared their formerly untold stories through the unique, creative and thought-provoking films. For each selected film, the filmmaker receives a cash award and sees her film shown to audiences at over 200 locations, raising awareness and funding for causes.
Proceeds from the San-Cap event will go toward the Zonta Foundation, the club’s nonprofit arm, to help fund grants for area nonprofits whose mission is empowering women.
Tickets are $12.50. Once ticket holders start to view the film collection, they have 24 hours in which to enjoy the films. They can watch the films at any time on any device, as many times as they wish.
