Turkeys, donations collected to provide holiday meals
The 6th Annual Turkey Drop and Roll held on Nov. 10 at the Lighthouse Point Condominiums on Sanibel resulted in the donation of 663 pounds of turkey for the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida. Event organizers and island residents Gregg and Kim Goldstrohm reported that $2,400 in monetary donations were also received for the food bank. The couple took over coordinating the drive for the first time this year following the recent passing of islander Henry Peterson, who had started the event with his wife, Sandy. There are plans to rename the drive next year in honor of his memory.
