Symphony trio to perform at ‘Battle of the Arts’
A Southwest Florida Symphony jazz trio will perform for free during the final “Battle of the Arts” on Nov. 14 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Bell Tower Artistic and Operations Center in Fort Myers, while 25 artists compete across the strip. It will explore classic jazz music in the spirit of the Oscar Peterson and Bill Evans trios. The trio includes Tom Pizzi on piano, Alex Albanese on bass and Scott Crawford on drums. Hosted by Artsemble Underground and Bell Tower, “Battle of the Arts” is held on the second Saturday, with performances by the symphony’s ensembles. Artists have three hours to create a new work of art, competing in two categories: the All-Star Award and People’s Choice. A panel of celebrity judges review their work and choose a winner.
