Refuge visiting school, raising donations for holiday meals

From now through Nov. 19, the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge and “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge are sending Tice Elementary, a Fort Myers Title I school, some extra love. The Wildlife on Wheels mobile classroom will visit and teach students about wildlife, nature and the refuge. It started out on Oct. 25 with “Not So Spooky Skeletons” week, teaching the difference between invertebrates and vertebrates. In addition, the refuge has joined other local organizations for a Turkeys for Tice drive from now until Thanksgiving. The drive is in honor of the mother of the school’s assistant principal, Katie Reimenschneider, who is a former educator at The Sanibel School. To donate $25 for one family’s turkey dinner, visit https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/WebLink.aspx?name=E54182&id=12 and designate “TURKEY” in the form’s comments.
