Public asked to be careful of beach plantings
Captiva beach-goers are being asked to be mindful of the new dune plantings that are part of the recent beach renourishment project. The Captiva Community Panel reported that the Dickey Lane Beauties, who love their Laika Lane beach pathway, recently designed a natural boundary to protect the grasses and show beach lovers where to walk. There were no boundaries so the new plantings got stepped on. The grasses will help hold the new sand distributed along the beach. Island friends and families have been challenged to continue the shell border to see how long it can get.
