Lee Health opens additional pediatric vaccination options

Lee Health announced more convenient options for parents to get their children vaccinated.
The health system kicked off its efforts to protect children ages 5-11 from COVID-19 with a large-scale vaccination event at Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida on Nov. 13. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine received approval for children ages 5-11 earlier this month.
As of Nov. 17, the COVID vaccine is available to children ages 5-11 at all Lee Physician Group pediatric offices throughout Southwest Florida and at the LPG pediatric infectious diseases office at the HealthPark Medical Center. Vaccination at LPG offices is available to established patients only. It is available at no cost to the patient.
“With the good news that the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control have approved the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children age 5-11, I strongly encourage all parents to have their children vaccinated as soon as possible,” Dr. Stephanie Stovall, chief officer of quality and safety for Lee Health, said. “The vaccine underwent vigorous trials and studies; it is safe and effective.”
In addition to its availability at LPG pediatric offices, Lee Health operates a mobile vaccination clinic where parents can walk up and have their child vaccinated. There is no cost for the vaccination and it is available to the public including children and family members who are not established patients of LPG.
Over 300 children have been admitted to Golisano with COVID since the start of the pandemic.
“Getting vaccinated will keep children out of the hospital and help prevent them from spreading the virus to older and more at-risk family members,” Stovall said.
