COASTAL WATCH Volunteers collecting red mangrove propagules.

Coastal Watch recently provided an update on its mangrove seedlings. In June, volunteers potted over 400 red mangrove propagules. They have been growing for the past four months at the plant nursery. In a few weeks, the seedlings will be planted at their forever home at the habitat restoration site on Hemp Key. Also last week, Coastal Watch reported that volunteers have been working hard the past few weeks collecting propagules and joining staff on restoration trips to plant them at Hemp Key. Those interested in participating in the collection or planting of propagules can contact kmcneal@sccf.org for more information.
