Captiva library, county system providing programs

The Captiva Memorial Library, at 11560 Chapin Lane, Captiva, is offering the following free programming:

CHILDREN PROGRAMS

– Nov. 17, to Nov. 20: Happy Thanksgiving

(daily during operating hours)

See the Happy Thanksgiving book display and complete activity sheets. Make a turkey out of a balloon and construction paper feathers. Craft available while supplies last.

– Nov. 23-24: Super Heroes and Graphic Novels

(daily during operating hours)

Browse the Super Heroes and Graphic Novels book display is in the Children’s Room. Check out books and have fun with the activity sheets provided. Make a paper envelope super hero puppet. Craft available while supplies last.

TEEN PROGRAMS

– Nov. 17-20: Happy Thanksgiving

(daily during operating hours)

Help decorate the Teen Section for the holiday. Write “I am Thankful for” ideas on paper turkey feathers and attach them to the turkey. String fall colored pompoms on yarn to make a garland for the teen book shelves.

The library is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information about a program or to register, call the library at 239-533-4890.

In addition, the Lee County Library System is offering the following free virtual programs:

ADULT PROGRAMS

– Nov. 17: Online English Cafe at 6 p.m.

The session provides adult learners an opportunity to practice speaking English with native speakers. Topics include everyday situations, current events and cultural areas. Presented by the School District of Lee County’s Adult & Career Education Program. Advance registration required before Nov. 17 at 6 p.m.

– Nov. 18: Master Gardeners of Lee County ‘Turf Diseases and Remedies’ at 2 p.m.

Online presentation by the Master Gardeners of Lee County about turf diseases and remedies. Presented by Lee County Extension Director and Extension Agent Stephen Brown. Advance registration required.
