Captiva library, county system offer programs

The Captiva Memorial Library, at 11560 Chapin Lane, Captiva, is offering the following free programming:

CHILDREN PROGRAMS

– Nov. 10: Native American Heritage

(daily during operating hours)

Check out the Native American Heritage book display and complete activity sheets. Make a Popsicle stick teepee. Craft available while supplies last.

– Nov. 13: Native American Heritage

(daily during operating hours)

– Nov. 16-20: Happy Thanksgiving!

(daily during operating hours)

See the Happy Thanksgiving book display and complete activity sheets. Make a turkey out of a balloon and construction paper feathers. Craft available while supplies last.

The library is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information about a program or to register, call the library at 239-533-4890.

The library will be closed on Nov. 11 in recognition of Veterans Day.

In addition, the Lee County Library System is offering the following free virtual programs:

ADULT PROGRAMS

– Nov. 10: Online Spanish Conversation Club at 6 p.m.

Are you ready to take your Spanish-speaking skills to the next level? Improve your fluency by chatting with adults. Practice speaking Spanish with others on a variety of topics, including current events and everyday situations. Intermediate to advanced Spanish-speaking skills are recommended in order to get the most out of the session. Presented by the School District of Lee County’s Adult & Career Education Program. Advance registration required before Nov. 10 at 6 p.m.

– Nov. 15: How to do Business with Lee County as a Business Vendor at 2 p.m.

Attendees will receive information on opportunities and gain an understanding of the process of how to do business with Lee County. Part of the Online Small Business Series and hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University. Advance registration required.
