CHAMBER TO HOST BUSINESS LUNCHEON
The Sanibel & Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce will hold its next business luncheon on Nov. 10 starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Casa Ybel Resort, at 2255 W Gulf Drive, Sanibel.
The guest speaker is Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum Executive Director Sam Ankerson. He will talk about the plans for the museum and how it has evolved in its mission of education and conservation.
Cost is $30 for chamber members only. Advanced registration is required by Nov. 5 at 5 p.m. at sanibel-captiva.org or 239-472-8255; walk-ins will not be accepted. Payment is due at time of registration.
LEE HEALTH LIFTS VISITATION RESTRICTIONS
Lee Health recently lifted its COVID-19 visitation restrictions.
“Last year, these restrictions were put in place for the safety of our visitors, patients and staff due to the coronavirus pandemic,” it said in a release. “As conditions have improved, we are able to safely remove these restrictions.”
Visiting with COVID-positive patients remains limited to compassionate care situations.
Masks and social distancing are required in all Lee Health facilities, and the system will continue to screen visitors for symptoms of COVID when they enter Lee Health facilities.

COOK RECEIVES CTFA DESIGNATION
The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company announced that Executive Vice President and Wealth Services Advisor Robin L. Cook received her Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor (CTFA) designation.
It is a professional designation offered through the American Bankers Association, which provides training and knowledge in taxes, investments, financial planning, trusts and estates. It is appropriate for professionals with a career in banking, brokering, financial planning, taxation, or trust administration.
Cook joined the company’s Wealth Services Team in 2013 to cultivate new business relationships and assist clients in refining their investment and estate planning strategies.
She has earned her Certified Wealth Strategist Designation, is a graduate of The Florida School of Banking at the University of Florida, and graduated from Leadership Cape Coral. Earlier in her career, Cook held the Series 7, Series 63, and Florida Life Insurance licenses.
She has served on the board of directors for the Captiva Island Historical Society, Cape Coral Community Foundation and Gulf Coast Village. Cook is currently a member of the Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club and the Sanibel Captiva Business Women’s Association.
MARSH EARNS CERTIFICATION, MAKSIMOVA HIRED
Laura Ann Marsh, human resources assistant with Sanibel Captiva Community Bank, has been certified as an HR generalist by the Independent Community Bankers Association.
The certification program represents the body of knowledge needed to serve as an effective human resources generalist. The eight-part program is designed to provide human resources professionals the skills they need to be effective.
Marsh joined the bank in April as a customer service representative and teller at the McGregor Branch and was promoted to her current role in July. She is responsible for preparing payroll transactions, maintaining human resources records and assisting in the administration of employee benefits.
Marsh has 25 years of executive administration experience working for several Southwest Florida businesses, including the Sanibel Community Church. She has also served as a substitute teacher for Lee County Schools since 1996. Marsh holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Trent University and a degree in education from University of Western Ontario.
In addition, Helen Maksimova joined the bank as a teller at the Periwinkle Way branch on Sanibel.
She is responsible for assisting customers with personal and business banking transactions.
Maksimova has over 18 years of bookkeeping and accounting experience in Southwest Florida. She worked as a bookkeeper for Bailey’s General Store and the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife. Maksimova was also an accounting associate for the Southwest Florida Community Foundation.
She attended Edison State College and graduated from the Nizhyn Gogol State University in Ukraine.
