The Sanibel Sea School recently welcomed Kimberly Bouwkamp to its team of ocean advocates.

She originally joined the ranks of the education team as a seasonal educator, primarily assisting with educational day courses. After the Sanibel Sea School’s spring and summer seasons came to an end, Bouwkamp was offered a full-time position to continue delivering marine science education and working to create lasting memories for children and families.

Originally from Michigan, she graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in fisheries and wildlife and a concentration in wildlife biology. Bouwkamp volunteered as an environmental educator on Florida’s east coast and worked as an interpretative park ranger at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee.

She is looking forward to teaching a wider variety of Sanibel Sea School’s offerings. Bouwkamp is especially excited to be a part of the outreach programs with The Heights Foundation/Heights Center and Child Care of Southwest Florida.

Part of the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation family, the Sanibel Sea School’s mission is to improve the ocean’s future, one person at a time.
