BANK OF THE ISLANDS

Bank of the Islands reported that an exterior landscaping redesign began on Oct. 30 at its office, at 1699 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. Working with Coastal Vista Design and Landgraphics Sanibel-Captiva, the plan includes the use of native vegetation like cocoplum, golden creeper, gumbo limbos and key thatch palms, along with tropicals such as bamboo ginger, bromeliads and King Alexander palms. Some larger trees, most of which are non-native, will be removed as their root balls have invaded the drains causing standing water during rain. Most of the project will be completed before Thanksgiving, after which the parking lot will be repaved.
