Historical village reports of successful opening
Following its off-season closure, the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village had a successful opening day on Oct. 19 with a full slate of volunteers helping visitors. Volunteers Catherine Anderson, Sharon Kaltenmark and Sally Shelton were stationed outside, sharing information with those passing by. Robin Coleman and Nancy Siegel spent some time in the village “store,” which is being temporarily located in Shore Haven while repairs are made to the Rutland House. The grounds are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. In accordance with city regulations, masks are required inside the buildings. Full guided tours are available if reserved in advance for groups of six to 10, depending on docent availability. Admission is $10 for ages 18 and older; children and members are free. For more information, call 239-472-4648 or visit www.sanibelmuseum.org. The Sanibel Historical Museum and Village is at 950 Dunlop Road, Sanibel.
