Captiva library, county system providing programs

The Captiva Memorial Library, at 11560 Chapin Lane, Captiva, is offering the following free programming:
CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS
– Oct. 13-16: Leaf People Stick Puppets
(daily during operating hours)
Make colorful leaf people stick puppets and browse the fall book display.
– Oct. 19-23: Make Monsters!
(daily during operating hours)
Make monsters out of paper plates and construction paper. Browse the book display in the children’s room and check out books featuring monsters and Halloween.
– Oct. 26-30: Paper Plate Candy Corn
(daily during operating hours)
Make bright candy corn decorations from yellow and orange tissue paper and paper plates. Visit the book display in the children’s room and check out Halloween books.
The library is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information about a program or to register, call the library at 239-533-4890.

ADULT PROGRAMS
– Oct. 13: Online Spanish Conversation Club at 6 p.m.
Are you ready to take your Spanish-speaking skills to the next level? Improve your fluency by chatting with adults. Practice speaking Spanish with others on a variety of topics, including current events and everyday situations. Intermediate to advanced Spanish-speaking skills are recommended in order to get the most out of the session. Presented by the School District of Lee County’s Adult & Career Education Program. Advance registration required before today, Oct. 13, at 6 p.m.
– Oct. 20: Online English Cafe at 6 p.m.
The session provides adult learners an opportunity to practice speaking English with native speakers. Topics include everyday situations, current events and cultural areas. Presented by the School District of Lee County’s Adult & Career Education Program. Advance registration required before Oct. 20 at 6 p.m.
– Oct. 26: Online How To Make Haunted Appetizers at 6 p.m.
Live virtual appetizer hour featuring the very best haunted eats. Library staff will show off easy-to-make festive treats while inviting participants to show off their own edible creations. Participants are encouraged to bake or make a dish to enjoy during the demonstration. Advance registration required before Oct. 26 at 6 p.m.
