The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation’s Marine Lab and Coastal Watch are looking for volunteers to take boat trips to Hemp Key in the Pine Island Sound for restoration work. The trips will take place throughout the fall months to disperse fossil shell to promote oyster growth and plant red mangrove propagules. The trips are planned for twice a week. Those physically unable or unavailable to take part can still help out by collecting red mangrove propagules on local beaches and waterways. For information, contact Conservation Initiative Coordinator Kealy McNeal at kmcneal@sccf.org or 239-472-8585.
