Progressive Club to hold monthly meeting

The Progressive Club of the Islands will hold its virtual monthly meeting on Sept. 23 at 4 p.m.
The guest speaker will be Lee County School Board Member Betsy Vaughn, who holds the at-large District 6 seat. She will discuss the issues currently facing the board and how the public can be helpful.
Vaughn was elected to the school board in November 2018. In 2014, she retired from a career as a secondary English language arts teacher, which included 19 years as an English Department chair at a large suburban Dallas high school and eight years in Lee County at Estero High School.
Vaughn has worn many “volunteer hats” since 2014. She has been a tutor and mentor in the schools, a volunteer at the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools and a Community Conversations discussion leader. Presently, Vaughn volunteers as a Guardian Ad Litem child advocate and education surrogate, and she is scholarship chair for the Haitian-American Community Coalition of Southwest Florida.
It is an interactive meeting with time provided for questions. To attend the Zoom meeting, email pcisancap@gmail.com to receive the link or watch online at www.facebook.com/pcisancap.
