Captiva library, county system providing programs

The Captiva Memorial Library, at 11560 Chapin Lane, Captiva, is offering the following free programming:

CHILDREN PROGRAMS

– Oct. 1-9: Coffee Filter Leaf Craft

(daily during operating hours)

Make colorful leaves out of coffee filters and check out a book from the fall book display.

The library is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information about a program or to register, call the library at 239-533-4890.

In addition, the Lee County Library System is offering the following free virtual programs:

ADULT PROGRAMS

– Sept. 29: Virtual Book Discussion for Adults at 10 a.m.

Calling all readers! A live virtual book discussion for adults. There is no assigned title. Instead, participants take turns sharing about the latest books that they have read. Advance registration required before Sept. 29 at 10 a.m.

– Oct. 1: Online Genealogical Clues in Census Records at 10 a.m.

Census returns often provide the most detailed basic information about ancestors and their families. They frequently serve as links to other important record types. Learn about these sources to locate ancestors in a specific time period and location of residence. Advance registration required.
