Call to artists
BIG ARTS will host its annual juried exhibition, entitled “Creative Ventures,” starting on Jan. 28 in the Dunham Family Gallery, at 900 Dunlop Road, Sanibel. Asking artists to explore new ideas, styles and mediums, resulting in fresh one-of-a-kind works, it will be an open-theme exhibit for artists working in painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, fiber, printmaking and such. Last year’s exhibition featured 62 works selected from 205 pieces that were submitted from around the globe. Artwork will be judged according to artistic merit by the BIG ARTS Visual Arts Committee — Deborah Butler, Diane Olsson, Bunny Ospa, Bea Pappas, Kathy Taylor, Annie Wainwright and Peter Zell — and BIG ARTS Programs and Gallery Manager Lauren Huff. Artwork can be submitted digitally by Jan. 2 at www.bigarts.org. The fee is $25 for donors, $30 for non-donors and $15 for students. All artists will be notified by email by Jan. 7.
