CHAMBER TO HOST VIRTUAL POWER HOUR

The Sanibel & Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce will hold a virtual October Power Hour on Oct. 6 at noon.

The guest speaker is Lee County Parks & Recreation Director Jesse Lavender. He will talk about the upcoming erosion-control, beautification and enhancement project for the Sanibel Causeway. The county and state will share the cost of the estimated $8.5 million upgrades.

The chamber will send a Zoom invitation to its members to register. When they RSVP, they will receive a link to the meeting.

KINGFISHER WELCOMES NEW ASSOCIATE

Kingfisher Real Estate recently announced Sue Plein is its newest sales associate.

Originally from Illinois, she relocated to Southwest Florida in 1979. Plein worked in the mortgage industry for years and was instrumental as a broker in lending for the construction and development of the South Seas Plantation on Captiva, along with the beaches of Fort Myers Beach, Vanderbilt and Naples.

Her background and passion for the area led her to her current career as a Realtor in 2008. She has earned the Sanibel Captiva Island Specialist designation, as well as the RSPS resort and second home property certification.

SCA SELECTED AS FINALIST FOR ENPY

The Sanibel Community Association has been chosen as a finalist for Business Impact Partner of the Year for the Cape Coral Community Foundation’s 5th Annual ENPYs — Excellence in Nonprofit Performance Yearly — awards.

The nomination reflects its commitment to support nonprofits and the surrounding communities.

The awards presentation will broadcast on CTN Television and stream on www.ctntelevision.com on Oct. 19 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
