Temporary closures of refuge’s Visitor & Education Center
The J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel reported that now through September, the Visitor & Education Center will be closed on Fridays and Sundays due to volunteer dropouts over COVID-19 concerns. Refuge Manager Kevin Godsea said, “In order to keep the Visitor Center open, we would need to shift other refuge staff away from performing mission-critical work to cover the information desk for a small number of visitors on Friday.” The center will be open Monday through Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
