During the month of September, Tarpon Bay Explorers will provide a 25 percent discount to Lee, Charlotte and Collier county residents for several rentals and tours. The discount applies to rentals of kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and bicycles, plus its Hobie fishing kayaks, pontoons and all tours.

Paddle a kayak through the mangrove tunnels of the Commodore Creek. Ride a bicycle on Wildlife Drive through the heart of the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge. Look for dolphins and manatees while on a paddleboard, and fish from a pontoon boat in the back bay waters of the refuge.

“We hope locals take advantage of the discounts,” Assistant Manager Adam Sauerland said. “The past year and a half has been difficult for everyone, so hopefully people can enjoy themselves, the bay and the discount.”

Locals can also launch their own watercraft from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a small park and launch fee.

Kayak, canoe, paddleboard and bicycle rentals are first come, first served from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hobie fishing kayaks and pontoon rentals require a reservation. Reservations are recommended for tours.

Identification is required to verify residency for discount.
