Registration open for Youth Fall Basketball League
UPDATE: The city of Sanibel reported that a new location has been designated for the Youth Fall Basketball League, hosted by the Sanibel Recreation Center and Captiva Cruises. It will be held at the pavilion next to the Sanibel ballfields, at 3840 Sanibel-Captiva Road, Sanibel. Masks will be optional during the outdoor activity.
The Sanibel Recreation Center will host a Youth Fall Basketball League for both boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grade, with an additional Tiny Tots division for 3- and 4-year-olds.
The league gives children an opportunity to learn the fundamentals while experiencing game play. The season starts on Aug. 13 at 5 p.m. and ends on Sept. 24, with all grades in the gym at the same time for the first night.
Fourth through eighth grade will practice on Thursdays at 4:45 p.m.; kindergarten through third grade will practice on Tuesdays at 4:45 p.m. Games for K-8 will be held on Fridays between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. Tiny Tots games will take place on Saturdays beginning Aug. 14 at 9:30 a.m.
The fee is $46 for members and $60 for non-members per child.
Financial assistance is available based upon individual need.
Volunteers are needed for coaching, team parents, scorekeepers and referees.
