Horse conches found on Sanibel
Cassidy Tenner, 7, of Denver, Colorado, found a horse conch on Aug. 6 and a second one on Aug. 7 both on Sanibel. Cassidy Tenner reported that his son likes to dig his feet in the sand from left to right until he feels something and then uses his hands to pull it out the water. With the first shell, Cassidy told his father that he stepped on something in the ocean and then pulled out the conch to his family’s amazement. The next day, his son was actually able to find the second one by digging his feet in the same area of water in the sand like a corkscrew. Tenner noted that it was their first time vacationing on Sanibel. His son had been asking to come to the island for the last three months because on their last vacation the family did not have time to make the drive from Miami. Tenner thanked Sanibel for gifting his son with the beautiful sea treasures and providing him with lifelong memories and stories he will remember forever. “We love you Sanibel!,” the family added.
