GULF COAST HUMANE SOCIETY Winner from the 2019 exhibit.

The Gulf Coast Humane Society is inviting people to put their love of their pet and animals to canvas, sculpture or photography for entry into the “Arts & Animals: Furry Friends Displayed in Art” juried exhibit.

Works can come in any range of medium, except for craft piece, and should reflect a love for a pet.

The submission deadline is Sept. 6 at 5 p.m. Entry is free.

“We love this event, because it mixes two wonderful things in life — art and animals,” GCHS Executive Director Jennifer Galloway said. “The first time we held Arts & Animals was a great success and a wonderful turnout.”

“Arts & Animals” will be held on Sept. 23 at the Alliance for the Arts, at 10091 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers, as a fundraiser for the GCHS. The top pet art pieces, which are submitted via digitally to www.ArtInLee.org/FurryFriends, will be on display and for sale.

Event tickets can be purchased at the door for $20, which will benefit the shelter animals.

The first phase includes submitting pieces digitally, which will be judged and the top submittals moving onto the final stage. The final stage artists will need to deliver their pieces to the Alliance for the Arts framed and ready to be displayed. The artists chosen as final stage entrants will earn a complimentary ticket to the event, where three winners will be announced.

The rules include:

– One entry per artist

– All mediums welcome (no crafts)

– Final stage artwork must be framed and ready to display

– Artists are responsible for delivery or shipping costs

Submitted works must be offered for sale at a labeled price set by the artists. Entries not for sale will be rejected. A 40-percent donation will be made to help the shelter animals from the sale of the piece.

Every effort will be made to handle with care, including protection from loss. Neither the Alliance for the Arts nor Gulf Coast Humane Society will not be liable for loss or damage caused or occurring while work is in exhibition or during shipping. Submission of artwork constitutes an agreement to all conditions of the entry form, including schedule and permission to photograph for publicity purposes.
