F.I.S.H., chef to offer virtual cooking class

F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva is taking registrations for its second “Cooking With Leslie” presentation, which is planned for July 22 from 2 to 3 p.m. via Zoom and is open to those living on the islands.
Recipes will be presented in a class style as participants cook together as a group. Ingredients can be home delivered to those on Sanibel or Captiva the day of the event and are compliments of F.I.S.H. Participants can also purchase the ingredients on their own with a list provided in advance by F.I.S.H.
Recipes are geared toward smaller portions. This month’s recipe will be pecan encrusted salmon, creamy risotto and hericot vert — French green beans — with macerated berries for dessert.
“Our first session was a huge success, and we are excited to work with Leslie again to offer another cooking experience,” F.I.S.H. Senior Services and Community Engagement Director Susan Alexander said. “We hope our neighbors will join us for this fun interactive Zoom event where everyone can learn new recipes and beneficial cooking techniques while satisfying their palates.”
Chef and owner of Catering by Leslie Adams, Adams will lead the lesson. The former owner of the award-winning Rosie’s Deli on Sanibel, she sold it after six years to devote her energy and talents as a catering and private chef service on the islands, which she has done for 14 years. Adams was trained at The California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and attended classes at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris.
Registration is required no later than July 19 by calling Alexander or Manuela Martinez at 239-472-4775. Once registered, F.I.S.H. provides a link and meeting ID number for access to the Webinar.
