Berry joins board at CIHS

The Captiva Island Historical Society welcomes Blair Wyatt Berry to its board of directors.
When Berry arrived on the islands in 2006, she was impressed by the array of lectures and other cultural events. She was especially interested in the not-for-profit organizations and the opportunities that they offered to volunteers.
Berry’s love of history drew her to the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village, where she served for the past six years on the board and still enjoys leading docent tours. She was involved with the early days of the Sanibel Sea School, and Berry currently serves on BIG ARTS’ College Scholarship Committee.
At the Captiva Chapel by the Sea, she served for seven years on the Chapel Pulpit Search Committee. Berry also volunteers at the Edison and Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers.
She has served as the interim director of the Delaware Museum of Natural History, with her previous experience including development work at various cultural, scientific and educational non-profits. During the summers in Vermont, Berry volunteers for Hildene, the Robert Todd Lincoln Family Home, Dorset Theatre Festival, Southern Vermont Arts Center and Pawlet Public Library.
“It is an honor now to serve on the board of the Captiva Island Historical Society, and a privilege to absorb and communicate the rich history of Captiva,” she said. “I believe our islands are unique in this respect — we have hugely rich and fascinating histories, and we respect and convey them with dedication and effectiveness.”
