Program to help capture memories of those with dementia

By ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION 2 min read

The Alzheimer’s Association will team up with the University of Florida Life Story Writing Lab to present “Capturing Memory Memoirs,” a free program to help those living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias share and celebrate their memories with loved ones, on June 2 at 1 p.m.

It will feature speaker Majse Lind, a Life Story Lab researcher, who will present “I’m Still Me! Living With Memory Difficulties: An Activity for People with Memory Difficulties and Their Loved Ones.”

“Seniors have a rich life to draw on and often enjoy thinking about their past,” she said. “With this novel research program, we work with individuals experiencing memory difficulties and a family member or friend to help them maintain a sense of self and strengthen their well-being despite the memory struggles.”

Other speakers will include Keith Gibson, director of program services for the Alzheimer’s Association, and community educator Tequesta Alston, who will share tips on “Healthy Living for the Brain and Body.” The program will then conclude with a Q&A session with the presenters.
