Optimist Club taking registrations for annual road rally
In memory of Gary Rogers, the Sanibel Captiva Optimist Club’s 41st Annual Freedom Road Rally will be held on July 3 starting at noon in the parking lot of Timbers Restaurant & Fish Market on Sanibel.
The $50 entry fee covers the vehicle, driver, navigator and unlimited crew.
One event T-shirt will be provided per team as part of the fee; indicate size/type on the registration form. As usual, additional event T-shirts will be available for purchase day of at the starting line.
There will be prizes for the winning vehicles.
An “afterglow party” will be held at The Sanibel Grill following the event.
Early starting times will be available for advance mailed-in and emailed registration forms. The forms can be picked up at the Sanibel Cafe, Bailey’s General Store and Sanibel Captiva Community Bank.
On-site registration will be available day of until 11:45 a.m.
The proceeds from the event are used to support scholarships and other benefits for local youth.
Donations from individuals and sponsors are always welcome and needed.
