KLCB seeks volunteers for annual beach cleanup

Keep Lee County Beautiful is seeking volunteers for its annual 5th of July Cleanup.
Sponsored by Whole Foods Market, simultaneous events will take place on July 5 from 8 to 10 a.m. along the Sanibel Causeway Islands, on Bunche Beach in Fort Myers and on Fort Myers Beach.
“Our beaches need a good cleaning after the Independence Day celebrations from the night before,” KLCB reported. “Show your patriotic spirit, and how much you care for our precious environment, by helping us gather the fireworks and other debris that will be left behind.”
“Now that we are in our rainy season, it is extremely important to collect this trash before it has a chance to pollute our waterways,” it added. “Help us keep our environment and waterways free from this harmful litter.”
KLCB will provide all of the supplies needed; wearing sunscreen is recommended.
Volunteers of all ages are invited and any individual, family, school, group, place of worship, business or government entity can join. For safety, the group sizes will be kept to no more than 50 at each site.
