F.I.S.H. kicks off annual Back-to-School Supplies Drive
F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva announced its Back-to-School Supplies Drive for the 2021-22 year.
From now through July 25, the community can drop off supplies between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Walk-In Center. Items like paper, glue sticks, pens, pencils, rulers and notebooks are requested.
F.I.S.H. is also accepting new socks and underwear for boys and girls in kindergarten through 12th grade, as well as cash donations to ensure enough supplies are available on distribution day.
“We are extremely grateful to our community partners for their assistance and contributions for our upcoming school supply drive,” Assistant Executive Director Maria Espinoza said. ” With the support of businesses, service clubs and individuals, students will feel confident and organized for the school year.”
Last year’s drive assisted over 130 students, and F.I.S.H. expects an increase in requests this year.
“Our neighbors are still trying to catch up financially from strain caused by the COVID crisis,” she said. “Many students will be returning to in-person learning this August, and having the right supplies can help them feel more prepared and less anxious as they re-enter the on-campus learning model.”

Distribution of the supplies will take place from July 26-30 at the Walk-In Center.
Financial assistance for specialized equipment, scientific calculators, SAT prep books, instruments, clothing and school uniforms is available to those showing a need. Contact F.I.S.H. for details.
