County releases schedules for coming holiday

The Fourth of July holiday will result in some closures and schedule changes for Lee County operations. Lee County administrative offices will be closed on July 5 and will reopen on July 6. The following are adjustments due to Independence Day falling on a Sunday, July 4:

ANIMAL SERVICES

Animal Services, at 5600 Banner Drive, Fort Myers, will be closed on July 5. Normal business hours will resume on July 6.

LEETRAN

Bus service will operate its regular schedule on July 3. LeeTran will not operate regularly scheduled bus or paratransit service on July 4. Limited trolley service will be available in the Downtown River District and on Fort Myers Beach on July 4. For details, visit www.RideLeeTran.com. Full bus, trolley and paratransit service will resume on July 5.

LIBRARY SYSTEM

Library branches will be open on July 3. Library branches and administrative offices will be closed on July 5. Libraries will resume regular schedules on July 6.

PARKS & RECREATION

Lee County’s parks, splash pads and preserves remain open through the holiday weekend. Pools are closed on July 4 and 5. Pools will reopen on July 6.

Centers are closed on July 4 and will reopen on July 5. Administration offices will be closed on July 5 and will reopen on July 6.

SOLID WASTE

There will be no change to residential garbage, recycling and yard waste collections in unincorporated Lee County, city of Bonita Springs, village of Estero and town of Fort Myers Beach.

The Resource Recovery Facility on Buckingham Road will be open to accept waste from 6:30 a.m. to noon on July 3. The facility will be closed on July 4 and will open on July 5 from 6:30 a.m.to 6 p.m.

All Solid Waste offices and the Household Chemical Waste Collection Facility, at 6441 Topaz Court, Fort Myers, will be closed on July 3 and 5.

The Household Chemical Waste Collection Facility, which is normally open on the first Saturday of each month, instead will be open on July 10 from 8 a.m. to noon.

The Solid Waste Department encourages residents to recycle the plastic, metal and glass from their Independence Day celebrations.

UTILITIES

The offices of Lee County Utilities, Customer Service Center and drive-thru window will be closed on July 5. A drop-box is on-site at the front door and another box is accessible via the drive-thru for payments by check.
