Annual Street Resurfacing Project to begin

The city of Sanibel’s Annual Street Resurfacing Project will commence on June 14.
The paving will be done during normal daytime hours, with the exception of the areas listed as night work. Access to residences and businesses will be maintained at all times and the public is reminded to use caution when traveling through a construction zone. The following are included in the project:
DAY WORK
– Twin Lakes Lane
– Lake Murex Circle
– Barra Circle
– Tiree Circle
– Saint Kilda Road
– Bowmans Beach parking entrance apron
NIGHT WORK
– East Gulf Drive (Lindgren Boulevard to Elinor Way)
– Middle Gulf Drive/Fulgar Street (Donax Street to Mid Gulf Drive)
Also included in the project is the installation of a 2-foot wide, compacted road shoulder along sections of Sanibel-Captive Road from approximately the Clam Bayou Box Culvert east to Gulf Pines Drive. It will be done during the day.
Every effort will be made to minimize any inconvenience to the public.
Every year the city resurfaces selected roads based upon a time schedule and existing condition. This year’s road resurfacing contract amount is $547,000 involving full-width resurfacing of the streets mentioned, plus the additional road shoulder installation and select road striping touch up. The contractor is required to complete the project within 30 days, weather permitting.
