Don Goff, of Lake City, found an alphabet cone and lightning whelk on June 9 while shelling during low tide at the Sundial Resort & Spa on Middle Gulf Drive on Sanibel. Found in the water sticking up out of the sand, the whelk measured just short of 6 inches. Jamie Simpson reported that their daughter, Katelyn Goff, 13, found a true tulip that measured 6 inches. She continued that the family has enjoyed shelling up and down the Gulf Coast since their first vacation to Sanibel in 2018, and that the island is their favorite vacation spot. Katelyn added, “These are our best finds. These shells made an excellent addition to our collection. We hope to find a junonia one day.”
